An AI-native operating system for building and running a startup

Grid brings projects, agents, development, deployment, infrastructure and operations into one browser-accessible control plane. Humans and AI agents are both first-class workers inside it.

The loop Grid is built to hold

  1. Idea
  2. Research
  3. Requirements
  4. Design
  5. Tasks
  6. Development
  7. Review
  8. QA
  9. Deployment
  10. Monitoring
  11. Incidents
  12. Release
  13. Feedback

What makes it Grid

Four constraints decide every design call. They are the reason Grid is an operating layer rather than one more tool to keep open in a tab.

Browser first
The browser is the interface, not the machine. Execution happens on a host you choose — local, Docker, SSH or a remote VPS — and the same workspace opens from any device.
Agent native
Agents are workers, not a chat sidebar. Grid owns the coordination: who holds which task, what they may touch, and what has to pass before work moves on.
Provider agnostic
No AI vendor becomes architectural bedrock. An agent runs through whichever provider you point it at, and swapping one out is configuration rather than a rewrite.
Portable by default
The machine is never the product. Projects, tasks, sessions and context outlive the box they ran on, so a dead laptop costs you a reconnect rather than a rebuild.

Grid is not just an IDE, just an agent harness, just a chatbot, just a Kanban board, just a CI dashboard, another wrapper around one model. Those are capabilities inside it. Grid is the environment that connects them.

Where Grid is today

Grid is early and open. The engineering spine is real — a Bun workspaces monorepo with a Next.js control plane, a Hono API on Bun over Postgres, a shared UI package, a docs site and a full lint, typecheck, test and CI pipeline. You can sign in today, create a project and file tasks on a board; the surfaces that turn those tasks into agent work are next.

Working today

  • Projects and tasks
  • The board
  • Auth, MFA and passkeys
  • Docs site

Defined, not built

  • Agent runs in isolated worktrees
  • Review and diff surface
  • Ship and operate

Install Grid

Grid self-hosts. Clone it, install with Bun, and it runs on your machine — the browser is the interface, so anything you can reach it from becomes a workstation.

  • Bun 1.4.2
  • PostgreSQL (or Docker Compose)
  • Node-compatible system dependencies
  1. 01Clone the repository

    git clone https://github.com/shabirkhan-dev/grid.git
    cd grid
  2. 02Install dependencies with Bun

    bun install
    bun run prepare
  3. 03Start every workspace

    bun run dev

The web control plane starts on :3000, the API on :4000 and the docs on :3002. Full setup, Docker and deployment notes live in the repository README.
